The City of Montclair actively provides park and recreation, storm drainage, sewer, roads, street sweeping, fire protection and emergency medical, library, and police services. The City operates with governmental funds and reports one major business-type fund: sewer maintenance. The City provides fire protection/emergency medical response within its sphere of influence, to the area of the former Monte Vista Fire Protection District, and receives an increased share of the property tax for that service responsibility. Water service is provided by the independent Monte Vista Water District. The City does not identify any debt related to business-type activities. Other Post Employment Benefits (OPEB) payments and obligations are not identified in the 2011 audit. Redevelopment activities have been removed for all years to normalize for the dissolution of redevelopment agencies effective February 1, 2012.
